Just an FYI of a concert worth checking if you’re in central Indiana this holiday weekend. Up at Village Green Records in Muncie, they’re having the Day After Show, featuring some impressive talent including Dignan, Timbre, The Soil and the Sun, Joel Levi and Bonesetters.
Bonesetters – http://www.myspace.com/stvlasco
Bonesetters is Dan Snodgrass’s vehicle to take us back to a depression era time in American history and still find the joy in the sorrow. The past six months has seen a perpetually changing lineup in which Mr. Snodgrass is trying to find the ‘right’ match. Bringing elements of brass, Saw, thick electric bass, drums, electric and acoustic guitar; and now even lite touches of electronics he will have ya purring to the sweet introspective sounds of the 30s or dancing to a number from Disney’s Aristocats!
Joel Levi – http://www.myspace.com/joellevimusic
Joel Levi is Anderson Indiana’s answer to the growing male singer/songwriter folk-rock artists edging their way into girl’s hearts across this radio-free country. Soothing hooks and romantic ballads are sung almost effortlessly by this young equivalant to Nick Drake, Tim Buckley, Loudon Wainwright, Donovan, and even Jack Johnson.
Timbre – http://www.myspace.com/timbre
Timbre Cierpke has left her touch on a slew of recent Indie-rock, post-rock bands from MeWithoutYou to Anathallo. Her classical yet modern playing has been turning heads for a few years now and it seems she has become one of the most sought-after musicians in the midwest! As a solo artist she sings and plays harp simaltanously, sometimes accompianed by friends and family – her touring ambitions are proof that she is more than a studio musician.
The Soil & The Sun – http://www.myspace.com/genderagename
The Soil & The Sun – with the growing popularity of Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear and Dirty Projectors; The Soil & The Sun sit perfectly amongst these other acts. Breathing in a gorgeous stream of melodic hooks and avant-indie-folk harmonies The Soil & The Sun are destined to make their own place in the music world’s growing love of the organic beauty of folk-rock.

out of all of this The Soil & The Sun are just so good!
+ Dignan is on this event
I had idly listened to The Soil & The Sun and Timbre’s respective myspace offerings before the show, but nothing could prepare me for how great they were live. TSATS and Timbre definitely have a new convert here.
Comparing Joel Levi and Jack Johnson?? I don’t know about that…
Yeah. It’s all that surfer soul that Joel possesses, man. I mean … whenever I hear his music I think … waaaaaves.
