I first ran across Boozoo Bajou browsing the CD stacks at my local library. From a purely marketing standpoint, the name jumps out at you. I enjoy the experience of putting a disc on for the first time not knowing whether I’m going to like it or not, and as it turned out I loved it. This song is called “Grains” from their new album. It’s vaguely reminiscent of America meets Pink Floyd at an acid party thrown by the Thievery Corporation. The Boozoo I was familiar with had a stronger electronic feel, but I really like this more organic fusion. It’s a slow, dreamy 4 minute respite to a psychedelic grain field, the grain lazily swaying in the wind (despite the fact that the grain in question is a grain of sand.) Peaceful and mellow. Nice.
