Bright Eyes/Neva Dinova- Poison

In the past Conor Oberst and Bright Eyes have soaked up a large percentage of the indie spotlight, however with Oberst focusing on various side projects and solo efforts as of late, we haven’t heard much from this Omaha group. Neva Dinova on the other hand, hails from the same city as Bright Eyes, yet does not conjure up the same press frenzy as the band that Q Magazine refers to as, “Omaha’s more celebrated son”. This may change with the reissue/Ep/split that is being released by these Omaha bands. One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels will be out Tuesday the 23rd, and the album stands as a sort of faux collaboration rather than a split, and from what I’ve heard, Neva Dinova is a real standout. “Poison” runs a unique gambit ranging from subtle synth sounds at the open, to smooth acoustic guitar that rapidly develops into a neo-bluegrass gone indie folk by the tracks opening verse. Give this new Saddle Creek release a listen and see what I mean.
