Merge Records to Reissue Archers of Loaf’s Catalogue
Add Archers of Loaf to the list of long-defunct indie rock bands of the ’90s intent on putting their legendary status to good use. In addition to an underway and already successful reunion tour, the seminal rockers will be reissuing their classic debut album, 1993’s Icky Mettle.
On August 2nd, Merge Records will release the reissued album which will feature a re-mastering job by Bob Weston and new liner notes from Robert Christgau. Of course, there will all sorts of b-sides and singles tracks (such as the Archers of Loaf vs. The Greatest of All Time EP) included on the reissued Icky Mettle, but the full tracklist details are not available yet. Reissues of the other three Archers of Loaf albums (1995’s Vee Vee, 1996’s All the Nation’s Airports, and 1998’s White Trash Heroes) will follow next year.
Remind yourself why this is an exciting development by watching the video for “Web in Front” below. Maybe check out some tour dates (many of which are already sold out) while you’re down there.
