Portishead to Tour North America

Portishead fans know from waiting. Their masterful doom chamber of a record, Third, appeared in 2008, eleven years after it’s self-titled predecessor. 2011 looks likely to close without any new material surfacing from the band’s presumably pitch-black music studio/underground lair, leading some (well, me) to speculate that Portishead are part of the way through another lengthy drag during which no new music is released.

But all is not bleak for Portishead fans (though you’d never know it from their musical taste): the Bristol-based doom-and-gloomers are co-curating October 1st and 2nd of All Tomorrow’s Parties’ I’ll Be Your Mirror presentation in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Following that, Portishead will head out on a brief tour of North America. Dates are below.
