Moñecho, “Green Sun”

on .

Released last December, Past Waters/Fever Lives, the debut album from Williamsport, Pennsylvania, native Matthew Serra (who now resides in Brooklyn), is a deeply breathing progression of songs that float, flutter, tumble and repose. For those who might hear a Jeff Buckley song come on and think to themselves that no one really goes for it like that anymore, Past Waters/Fever Lives offers an impassioned but well-considered art-rock response with songs like “Gnosis” and, here, “Green Sun”. A seven-minute tour de force of Serra’s instrumental abilities (he recorded everything on the album himself) and firefly vocals, “Green Sun” restlessly moves through circling post rock, mystic folk, gradually twining both into a restorative drum-circle meditation.
